A few suggestions: my employee keeps flipping from great to terrible, my boss is annoyed that I stayed out late drinking during a three-day work event, office lunch event is out of control, my friend doesnt understand how work works, and more. I took the internship based on what was advertised because I thought it would be good on my resume after I graduated, but I didnt even end up including it because, made copies and laminated them didnt add anything to my application. Departments/institutions conferring credit almost always have a formal means of approving the placement, learning objectives, and tasks performed before the student begins and evaluating the placement at the end, so empty/contentless internships will not escape notice for long. everything and everything. Ive brought up that I dont yet have work to do and that Im happy to help on any project to the person in charge of staffing my office many times, talking to her every day shes in the office in person and emailing her as well. Back in college, I spent a semester in Manhattan and did two internships one at a major magazine, one at a small creative agency. Any shorter than that and theres no point in investing in the person. This should nudge her to realize that the organization isnt meeting its end of the bargain, and, ideally, should pay off in more work. No doubt this was to minimize abuse or confusion, but I could see that coming into play in a situation like this. jobs come and go. Do not eat food near me that has any discernible smell. But even the best of interns is a blank slate, conditioned with enough knowledge to be able to learn the stills needed for the real job. Everyone wants to be a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Id only get jobs to clean shelves and binders, etc. Highlight your accomplishments and outline your best and most enhanced skills. I do government adjacent work that requires a clearance and a couple of summers ago we were at a point where we were focusing almost exclusively on the work that requires a clearance to even know it exists, and what do the higher ups do? ), My employer just had its first batch of interns last summer.

At that age, I definitely did not have that kind of wherewithal about the working world. I truly wondered if something was wrong with me, or if I was doing something wrong, but I got nothing but great feedback. (Youll have to read the culture re: asking, I found that sometimes if I asked, it made the other person feel like they should give me instructions, etc and became another item on their to do list, whereas when I just presented them with a mockup they were delighted that this new tool fell in their laps.).
